Hi Mike,

  • Would you know why St. Anne is patron saint of cabinet makers?

Anne

  { Why is St. Anne the patron saint of cabinet makers? }

Mary Ann replied:

Hi Anne,

  • Maybe when St. Joseph was courting Mary, her mom being (St. Anne), she had him make her some cabinets.
  • Maybe the guild in the Middle Ages chose her because patrons were often female and she was the lady who let Joseph, the carpenter, marry Mary.
  • Maybe it's because she was a grandma, and we all know that grandmas have cabinets where they keep special things.

The reason is probably connected to an answered prayer by a cabinetmaker or a guild in France, where, according to popular belief, her body was taken.

Hope this helps,

Mary Ann
