Email Code Usage
and
email filtering instructions for popular e-mail programs

home | Netscape7.0-Mac | Mozilla 1.2.1 | Eudora 5.2.1

When sending email to the listserv, where appropriate, please add an email code from the table below. Enclose the email code in SQUARE brackets at the beginning of the subject field. If your email does not fit any of the codes listed below then do not use any code. Do not create your own codes. Using these codes will save time for everyone reading their email whether they filter their email or not.

Also, just a reminder, you never need to add [Wind] to the subject field of your email, it is added automatically.

Code Content of the email
[Lead] Describing a job that an employer or recruiter looking to fill
[ContReq] Requesting a contact at a specific company or companies
[Org] Announcements of WIND meetings, speakers, events, guerrilla or buddy groups
[Unemp] Unemployment benefits, claims or extensions
[Ins] COBRA, health, life, dental or disability insurance
[Intro] Announcing yourself to members
[Event] Upcoming job fairs, seminars or non-WIND networking events
[Resume] Resume writing, cover letters or business cards
[Landing] Letting people know that or how you got your new job
[Learn] Career training, schooling, or certification

Email filtering based on Codes
Many email programs allow you to filter your email and sort the messages into selected folders. This can be a big time saver for those who don't get the condensed version of WIND email. If you are currently receiving the condensed version you must change your preferences on the WIND web site first. For instructions on how to set up email filtering for some of the more popular email programs click on the appropriate link below.

Outlook 2000
Netscape 4.75
Netscape 7 (Mac)
Yahoo
Eudora
Mozilla 1.2.1
Procmail
MSN

Thanks go to Mark Long for bringing this together.
